What a bartender brings
A bartender on their own is half a bar, so nobody turns up empty-handed. The bar, the shakers, the jiggers, the strainers, the ice, the glassware and the garnish all come in the van.
He arrives about ninety minutes before service, sets up, and preps citrus and syrups on your bench instead of bringing them pre-made. Then he runs the bar for the hours you booked.
At the end it all goes back in the van, the rubbish with it. You won't find a lime wedge in the morning.
Two hours is the minimum booking. Four is where most parties land.
Kit list
Shakers and tins
Enough of them that the third round isn't slower than the first.
Ice
Cubed for shaking, block for anything stirred.
Glassware
Cut crystal tumblers and coupes, packed in crates and counted back in.
Citrus and syrups
Squeezed and made the same day, on site.
Straight answer on the small end: under about twenty guests, a bartender for the night costs more than the night needs. Bottles in the fridge do the same job for less, and we'll say so rather than take the booking.
Where bartenders get booked
House parties
Kitchen bench, deck or lawn. Two flat metres is the whole requirement.
Weddings
Post-ceremony drinks through to the last song. How weddings run.

Reviews of the bar service
“We hired Coastal Cocktails by Ollie for our daughter’s 21st and it was the highlight of the night. The drinks were beautifully presented and Ollie was friendly and professional. He ensured drinks were refreshed and quietly tidied up throughout the night. He made everything effortless from start to finish.”Alexis Finan · 21st birthday
“Ollie was nothing short of exceptional. We recently hired him to serve our wedding and he was incredibly responsive and helpful every step of the way!”Abby S · Wedding
“Fantastic margarita. Best in Sydney.”Anna Drisdale · Margaritas
Questions about bartender hire
Are you RSA certified and insured?
Both. Certificates and the public liability certificate of currency go out with the quote, or the same day you ask if your venue wants them first.
Can you serve beer and wine too?
Yes. The bar pours cocktails and keeps beer and wine cold alongside them.
What is the minimum booking?
Two hours of service. Setup and pack-down aren't counted in that.
Do we need a liquor licence for a party at home?
At a private party where nobody is charged for a drink, generally no. If tickets or drinks are being sold, or it's on public land, the rules change. Tell us what it is and we'll tell you what it needs before you book.
Do you supply the alcohol?
Either way works. We can price it in, or you buy it and we bring everything else.
How far do you travel?
Anywhere from Manly to Palm Beach carries no travel charge. North Shore and the rest of Sydney carry a small one, already built into the estimate above.
Tell us the night and the numbers
We'll come back with a bartender, a menu and a price.
