Terms & Conditions
How booking Coastal Cocktails by Ollie works. Read it before you book, and ask us about anything that isn't clear.
These terms apply between you and Ollie Attrill, trading as Coastal Cocktails by Ollie (ABN 35 170 605 438). "We" and "us" mean the business; "you" means the person or organisation booking the service.
Prices and estimates
The estimator on this site gives a ballpark range, not a quote. It works off three inputs and cannot see your access, your menu, your timings or who is supplying the alcohol. Nothing on this site is an offer we are bound by.
The real price comes after we've talked: you send the form or email us, we ask what the estimator can't, and we come back with an itemised quote. That written quote is the price. It is valid for 30 days and it doesn't change afterwards unless the event does.
Your quote states whether GST applies and shows it separately if it does. Travel within the Northern Beaches is included; the North Shore and the rest of Sydney carry a travel component, itemised in the same quote.
Minimum booking
Two hours of bar service, and a minimum spend of $500. Most events run three to five hours. The minimum spend is reviewed from time to time; the figure in your written quote is the one that applies to your booking, whatever this page says later.
Confirming a booking
Your date is not held until two things have happened: you have accepted the quote in writing (email is fine), and any deposit we've asked for has been paid. Until then somebody else can book that Saturday, and in peak season they will.
The deposit amount and the balance due date are set out in your quote. The deposit comes off the total; it is not an extra charge.
Changes to your event
Guest numbers always move, and that's fine. Tell us up to about a week before the event and we'll adjust the quote up or down. Closer than that we'll do what we can, but the bar has already been stocked for the number we were given, so reductions may not be possible.
Changing the date is usually possible if we're free, and we'll transfer your deposit to the new date. If we're already booked, the cancellation terms below apply.
Cancellation
Tell us as early as you can. Deposits are generally non-refundable, because holding your date means turning down other work for it — the specific window and any balance payable are stated in your booking confirmation, so you know where you stand before you pay anything.
If we have to cancel (illness, an accident, something genuinely beyond our control), we'll tell you immediately, help you find a replacement where we can, and refund everything you have paid us. That is the limit of what we owe you in that situation.
Alcohol, and who supplies it
Either of us can. BYO usually works out cheaper, because you buy the spirits at retail and we tell you exactly how much to get; if you'd rather not think about it, we quote it fully supplied. Where you supply the alcohol, it's your job to have it on site and cold enough before service starts.
Responsible service of alcohol
We serve under NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol law. Our bartenders are RSA certified, which means we will refuse service to anyone who is intoxicated, we will not serve anyone under 18, and we may ask for photo ID. We can stop service entirely if a situation requires it.
None of that is negotiable and none of it is refundable. It protects your guests, your home and our ability to trade. At 21sts in particular, parents generally find it reassuring rather than awkward — it takes the job of policing it away from the host.
Your site and access
You're responsible for safe access to the space and for what we need to work: a flat patch about two metres wide for the bar, a power point within reach if the menu includes anything frozen, and reasonable access to water. We'll confirm the specifics when we quote.
If conditions on the day are materially different from what was agreed — no access, no power where power was needed, a setup spot that isn't safe — we'll do our best, but we can't guarantee the full menu, and the quoted price still stands.
For outdoor events we'll agree a wet-weather plan when we lock the date, so nobody is deciding on the morning. We work in poor weather; we won't set up electrical equipment somewhere unsafe.
Damage and breakages
Normal breakage during service is ours to deal with. Loss or damage to our bar, glassware or equipment caused by guests beyond ordinary use is charged at replacement cost, and we'll show you what it cost.
Photographs
We sometimes photograph the bar and the drinks for our own Instagram and this website. We don't photograph guests as the subject without asking, and if you'd prefer no photography at all, say so when you book and that's the end of it.
Insurance and liability
We hold public liability insurance and RSA certification. Certificates go to your venue or building manager on request — ask early, because some venues want them weeks ahead.
To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for matters outside our reasonable control, or for the conduct of your guests. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law, including the consumer guarantees. Where we can limit our liability for a service, we limit it to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.
Payment
Amounts, methods and due dates are in your booking confirmation. Please pay invoices by the date shown. For corporate bookings we issue a tax invoice with our ABN and can work to standard payment terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts of that state have jurisdiction.
