Weekends at the top of the peninsula
Palm Beach books differently to the rest of this coast. It is a house taken for three days, a group that has driven up from town, and one night in the middle that everything else is arranged around.
That night is the one to put the bar on. Ollie comes up in the afternoon and sets up on whichever side has the light: the ocean side under Barrenjoey for sunset, the Pittwater side near Station Beach for the still evening.
The other two nights are what bottled cocktails are for. Batched, bottled and left in the fridge, so Sunday doesn't need a bartender.
Weddings up here run the same shape, with the bar going in after the ceremony and staying until the cars arrive.

Three nights of bar service for a three-night house is money you don't need to spend. Pick the night the house is full and we'll leave bottles for the rest. Saying that costs us two nights of work and it's still the right advice.

Is there a surcharge for Palm Beach?
No. Whale Beach and Careel Bay are the same.
Can you do a wedding at a house up here?
Yes. Post-ceremony drinks through to the last song. How weddings run.
Can you leave bottled cocktails for the rest of the weekend?
Yes, and for a three-night house it's the cheaper way to do it. Batched, bottled and left in the fridge. Bottled cocktails.
What about Governor Phillip Park or the wharf?
Council land, so an event there needs approval and carries alcohol conditions. The houses above it are simpler.
How late can the bar run?
As late as the house allows. Holiday-let agreements up here carry a noise time, so check yours before you plan the end of the night.
